About William Horschak
I’m William Horschak. I was born in San Antonio, Texas, and grew up between San Antonio and the Coulee Region of western Wisconsin. My background is in hospitality leadership and revenue management. Today, my focus is legal study, public records, local journalism, and building tools that make public information easier to use.
From hotel operations to public records
I started my hospitality management career in 2014 as a hotel general manager. My work took me to West Yellowstone, Yosemite, and Half Moon Bay, and into regional operations and corporate revenue management. Running hotels taught me to document decisions, read the numbers, lead teams under pressure, and pay attention to details that others might miss.
I now study in the Legal Studies/Paralegal program at Western Technical College, with sights on law school. I also founded and publish the Trempealeau Pioneer, an independent monthly covering county government, courts, and public records in Trempealeau County, Wisconsin. I write the courts beat myself.
My projects include hospitality revenue analytics, public-records tools, and open-source skills for Wisconsin legal work. You can explore those ventures on my projects page.
What I write about
This is my personal publication, bringing together essays and commentary on hospitality, revenue strategy, public records, open government, civic technology, and sports. I’m interested in how decisions get made, what the evidence actually supports, and how systems can work better for the people using them.
There’s a person behind that work, too. I’m a San Antonio Spurs and Texas Longhorns fan. I golf, hike, travel, and spend as much time outdoors as I can.
